I THINK THAT ITS SUPPOSE TO BE ON THE BALLOT THIS YEAR TO GO FROM 10,000 TO 40,000 FOR THE TOWN TO GIVE VETERANS WITH DISABILITY THIS BREAK ON TAXES..WOULD YOU POST THIS AND ASK ALL TO VOTE FOR THIS....THANKS RICHARD WARREN
You are right Richard, it is Article 3

I believe this will reduce the disabled veteran's taxable portion of their homestead value by $40,000, correct? I know several other towns do something like this and I think this is a really nice "thank you" on a local level. I too would ask people to vote for it.
-
thanks for the info. I'll vote yes, our Veterans can use all the support they can get. They deserve it and gave alot more to this country than what our money could ever make up for.

Merely trying to crunch the rought numbers. Based on last year's tax rate the $30,000 increase would be @ $453 per disabled veteran. Based on 2000 census, there were 320 civilian vets in Fairfax. IF each one of those vets was disabled & owned a home, the tax revenue implications to the Town would be @ $145,000 (or less than $300/person additional tax per single family dwelling - again based on 2000 census figures)?
