Title: 1500 IBMers Laid Off - Unclear If Any Are From Essex Junction
Post by: Henry on March 02, 2010, 08:57:13 AM
Workers representatives say it's unclear if any workers at the Vermont IBM plant were laid off as part of nationwide layoffs.

Documents submitted by laid-off workers to the Alliance (at) IBM, a labor union representing a small percentage of IBM employees, says at least 1,518 jobs were cut Monday across the country.

It's not known where the positions were located.

The Essex Junction plant employs about 5,000 people.

And our government leaders in Washington want us to believe our economy is on the rise & our tough economic depression state is on the rise & so much better.  Maybe they think if they tell us that some will spend more.....they forget to tell that it'll only lead you farther into dept with still the high possibility your job gets cut.  Sorry to hear of the layoffs; I wish them all luck with their job search....maybe they could apply to take over in Washington as they may have a closer understanding of the reality of the economy!
