Title: Building Going On On Maple Street??
Post by: Henry on April 12, 2010, 06:28:53 PM
I noticed that a water well is being drilled on what looks like the lot where they just tore down the Old Lavallee House.  Quite a while back I vaguely remember some plans for building on that lot, but forgot what they were.  I believe no more water on the Village Water System is available, however there is sewerage, so like a few others here in town, another well is being dug.

Well, the way I hear it is that there will be a couple of duplexes going in here.  The single family dwelling on the right will be made into a duplex and where the house was that was just torn down, that will become a duplex.

How far do they have to go and WHAT do they need to go through???

I see a fire hydrant in the picture. Tap into that and no one is the wiser!!!

The house on the right looks like a newer one......
One on the left looks familiar, cannot recall the green roof though.

Road still looks the same..

The house with the green roof is your grandparent's oold place. The metal roof was added when Bob was still there.

The house on the right IS new. It sits kind of in back of where Bea Cheerier's place used to be. Bea's house would have been sitting in the front yard, closer to the road.

Bea's old house.
Cat central.

I remember Bea and vaguely remember Benard.

That LeMay lady, now I remember her!!
She made the BEST cherry and blueberry pies!

She even visited Alaska in 1972 or 1973 or 1974. ( I am sure I will be corrected on the years)

Yup. You got that right. Not only cats, but something else used to hang out. I was walking back home from Berardinelli's Store(now Steeple Market), and saw four skunks hanging around her front door.
I freaked and almost sprinted home.
Bernard passed away, I think, Jan. 1, 1980.

Mike,

Did you cut through the Norton trail or divert between the LeMay and Broe field????

Nowadays I cut through the Norton trail. Once in a while I go up and around to Main Street. Never went between LeMays and Broes.

The Norton's were accommodating people.
Never seemed to mind the "highway".

I remember one summer I was there and Joel and I broke out a window in the barn at the upper loft.
I was so scared that Art would just "kill" us!!
Obviously he didn't....

Good people.

Never really "lived" there.

Spent a few summers with the grandparents.
Went through the big tornado there.... we were cooking pizzas in the oven when the power went out.
Funny the silly stuff you remember.

We actually moved back to St Albans from Alaska for span I cannot remember how long.
I went to some school down my the lake....
Mom could give exacts...
But I can tell you that we was there for the Bicentennial!
I remember the parades and what nots in Fairfax.
Maybe that was Denver... we bounced for a few years.

I posted here once that we moved to Alaska in 1972. Mom corrected me, 1970.
Sorry, I was 3 or 4 years old. My bad.

Alaska is home but good memories of Fairfax.
