Title: Beryl (Alger) Howard Of Westford Passes Away

BERYL A. (ALGER) HOWARD WESTFORD — Beryl Alice (Alger) Howard, 90, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 22, 2006, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born in Moretown on March 13, 1916, daughter of the late Charles and Florence (Keyes) Alger. She married Rolland Howard on Sept. 13, 1932, in Westford. He predeceased her on July 3, 1988. She worked for many years for a local toy manufacturer in Essex, assembling toys. Beryl put her heart and soul into raising her family and was known as the family “Rock of Gibraltar.“ Beryl was a wonderful mother, greatgrandmother and great-greatgrandmother. She never spoke a negative word or thought. She bravely battled her blindness and was a respected member of the Association for the Blind. She faced her illnesses daily with grace and dignity. She always looked forward to sharing food and car rides with her family and friends. Beryl spent many of her later years with the Fairfax Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens, the Westford Senior Citizens and the senior citizens of UnderhillJericho. Your family loves and misses you. Beryl is survived by her six sons, Edward and his wife, Gloria, of Zephyr Hills, Fla., Richard and his wife, Hilda, of Westford, Ronald and his wife, Marie, of Enosburg, Winfred and his wife, Phyllis, of Alburgh, Frederick and his wife, Pauline, of Westford, Duane and his wife, Betty, of Westford; her sister, Mrs. Evelyn Whittemore of Pittsford; two sisters-inlaw, Dorothy Chandler of Burlington and Helen Hill of Cambridge; her 26 grandchildren, 44 greatgrandchildren, 17 great-greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her six brothers, Elden, Calvin, Lloyd, James, Donald, and Kenneth; three great-grandchildren, Amanda, Bo, and Eric. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. in A. W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 26, at 10 a.m. in A. W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel, with the Rev. Peggy Tooker officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Westford Plains Cemetery.
