Spring Green

SPRING GREEN
Six days a week I walk across the Lamoille River bridge. And inveribly, four of those days I stop mid-way and look out over the river. Usually to the west as I do it when I am coming back and walk against traffic.
Wednesday I was admiring the color. Mostly green. And as I look , there are no buildings because Swanson's place is being hidden by the trees. So all I look at is nature.
And Wednesday, I thought, We need to experience winter to appreciate the spring. We need to survive the months of blearyness to really enjoy the new spring color.
If we had a winter like, say, the mid-south-the Carolinas, Georgia-not Florida- would we really appreciate the whole rebirth of spring?
Or would we just take things for granted.
I know, I for one, would like to give it a try, but it's not going to happen.
A week and a half ago was Mothers Day and it snowed. And now the weather has been great. And everything is so green. And it's because of the snow on that day that we appreciate sitting in the hot sun in the backyard.
You deal with one thing to enjoy another.
Simple trade-off, I guess.
