Fairfax Fire was called out last night for a possible structure fire on The Swamp Road in Fairfield, however, none could be found there. They then checked out our own Swamp Road in Fairfax, but nothing there.
The call had apparently come in from a cell phone and the call was dropped. The 911 operator in Williston was finally able to contact the caller and it was determined that the fire was on The Swamp Road in Franklin.
One thing about reports from a cell phone, it appears they are sometimes hard to trace for the actual area of the problem, especially when a call is dropped in the middle of reporting the incident.
OK, now this is what I understood over the scanner, so completely unofficial and could definitely be a complete error, so I won't be offended if corrected.

Henry your account is accurate. For us and Fairfield it ended up being a "wild goose" chase. Quite a feeling though to have crews committed to a Fairfield response only to hear "oh this may be Swamp Rd. in Fairfax". A quick change of plans and tactics. Luckily the reported fire was not in Fairfax but we did check OUR road thouroughly to be sure as a result of the confusion.
