Stopped at McDonald's and picked up a quarter pounder with cheese and a small order of french fries - Total price was $4.59, so had my change all counted out. I get to the window and she tells me it is $5.
She gave me the printout and it said $4.59 plus .41 Take Out Tax
Wonder if I ate inside if I would still have to pay the Take Out Tax??
Noticed when I went up to VBC, they also charged me .50 for Take Out - Is this something new??

If you ate in, it would have been an "Eat In" tax.
I think it's just a fancier name for Rooms and Meals Tax.

Hydro Carbons tax....
I blame Gore and the EU.

Henry, I believe the "take out tax" is the same as the regular "room and meals tax", but that it's just called that on the receipt for their own internal references- maybe so they can analyze take out numbers vs. eat-in numbers. I asked about that once a long time ago and believe I got an answer like that. That being said, I know that some restaurants DO, in fact, charge a surcharge for takeout.
