The Opening Ceremonies were held for the start of the FIFA World Cup, which were being held here in the United States. Opening round play began shortly afterward..................................
Ken Griffey, Jr. took a David Cone pitch, and sent it into the water fountain for his 30th home run of the year, being the first player since Babe Ruth to hit 30 home runs before June 30..........................
And out on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles, the LAPD were following a white Ford Bronco. Inside that vehicle was OJ Simpson, with a gun to his head.
ESPN is showing a documentary, entitled "June 17, 1994", taking a look back at that fateful day. It is slated to be on ESPN Classic Thursday at 1 and 2pm. I saw it Wednesday night and HIGHLY recommend it.
