LEONARD STILLMAN TABOR JR. BELLINGHAM, Wash./ FAIRFAX — Leonard Stillman Tabor Jr., 72, died April 27, 2006, in Bellingham Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, after a battle with leukemia. He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Colchester, the son of the late Leonard and Beryle (King) Tabor. Leonard graduated from B.F.A. in Fairfax, the Class of 1951, and from Vermont Technical College in 1953. He joined the service, serving in the U.S. Army. He then ventured out to see the world and took up residence in California, where he spent most of his life. Leonard was employed by the Los Angeles Sheriff Department and as head of plant security for Lockheed Aircraft Manufacturing. He also spent some time as a equipment salesman in Bellingham. When his father decided to retire from farming, he returned to Fairfax and purchased the farm, and ran it for a short time before returning to California. Survivors include one son, Leonard Stillman Tabor III and his wife, Mandy, of Hollister, Calif.; a brother, Sidney F. Tabor of Hawthorne, Nev.; his former wife, Anne Tabor, of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Tabor of St. Albans; and several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by a brother, Alton. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, June 21, at 11 a.m. in the Fairfax Plains Cemetery on the McNall Road in Fairfax with the Rev. Elizabeth Griffin officiating. A luncheon will follow in the United Church of Fairfax to celebrate Leonard's life. Assisting Leonard's family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.
