Monday, June 12th an Open House was held for Carolyn Brooks in her kindergarten classroom in the elementary wing at the school.

She greeted colleagues, friends, parents and most importantly children; many of them former students.

She was presented with a signed print by Tasha Tudor; one of Carolyn's favorite illustrators of children's books.

Carolyn began teaching for the Fairfax Co-operative Kindergarten in 1986, and was hired by the school district when the kindergarten became public soon after that. Because of her love and respect for children she has been an advocate for all children all her life.

One student when describing her says, "Mrs. Brooks reminds me a rainbow and she makes me smile."

Carolyn will retire as a full time teacher, but will return next year as a kindergarten aide and will continue the home visitation program that she developed several years ago.
