The 2006 Pie and Ice Cream Social is over and I think it's safe to say everyone had a good time.
Forty pies. A smaller crowd than normal. The rain held off. We pulled it off again.
At this time, I would like to do my annual list of "Thank You's".
Thank you to Pastor Liz and the United Church of Fairfax for allowing the use of the front lawn of the Baptist Buiilding for our social. Talk about the perfect spot......
Thank you to Wayne and Sally Sweet for putting out the sign, trusting me with the key to the place, and mowing the front lawn and making it look great.
Thank you to my sister, Margie, for putting up with me. I do get obsessive about the weather. And I get haired out about the whole ordeal and want it to be perfect.
Thank you to the Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band for another wonderful performance. Young and old, you guys sounded great.
Thank you to everyone who made pies. Homemade pies are the best. And you folks make some great pies.
Thank you to everyone who helped set up and tear down.
Thank you to the pie servers-Bob and Kathy Bessette, Pat Bouthillette, and Margie Cain. You guys have right down to a science, pies sorted and everything.
Thank you to Al Daniels for serving the ice cream and letting me borrow your hat to "pass the hat" for the band.
Thank you to Henry Raymond for serving the ice tea and lemonade.
Thank you to Elaine Kirkpatrick for running the cashbox.
Thank you to Edwina Bartley and Margaret Miller for manning the T-shirt table.
Thank you to Jeff Minor and Minor's Country Store for being the place to get the ice cream.
Most of all, Thank you to everyone who came. It's such a simple evening. You folks come from all over to sit and listen to the band, wait patiently in line for some pie and ice cream, and when it's all over, you hang out and socialize. Thirty minutes after the band finished playing, some of you were still there visiting. THAT'S what it's all about. I'm know the band appreciates you for being generous when I passed the hat.
I've read the list a couple of times, and I do not think I am missing anyone. If I did, I apologize.
Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, Thank you to eveyone.
20th Annual Social next year. I wonder if Mom would have thought we'd still be doing this when she organized the first one back in 1988.
And her kids are still the ones organizing it.
