Title: The Vandals Are Out

Numerous acts of vandalism that took place Thursday night and early Friday in Colchester and Milton are under investigation, Colchester police said.

"In most cases, windows were smashed out of personal and business vehicles parked in the driveways or in the street in residential areas," authorities wrote in a news release, adding that some vehicles' tires were slashed.

The St. Albans Police Department said a young woman vandalized four vehicles and caused estimated damages of $4,000.

We have been surprisingly lucky so far this year.  While I have came in contact with a lot of juveniles after the hour of 10 pm I  haven't caught any vandalizing. I hope this keeps up through the summer.

Agreed.  I happened upon about 6-8 teen males in Flecther a couple weeks ago - just hanging out.  Having witnessed the damage some vandals had done to that school and surrounding soccer fields and property ( over $2000 worth of field and $1000 in equipment damage in 2 years time -2007-2009) i didn't feel comfortable just letting them stay and hang out.  Although i fully understand the bigger issue ( no reasonable outlets or activities to occupy local teen youths at night) i also can't trust some of them to make smart, intelligent, community considerate decisions on their own.  State Police patrols have since begun at alternate times of the night in the fletcher/fairfax areas ( especially during the 4th of july holiday weekend)

For those teens who are 'behaving' themselves or at least not being destructive, i commend you on your sense of respect and consideration and hope you can 'rub-off' on your peers!
