MORE FXFD HOSE TESTING
All the hose on Engine 2 was tested(except for 4 inch) Tuesday night down at School.

All the hose is laid out.

All the hose is numbered, so Tim Bessette marks down all the hose numbers.

Not that I am kill joy...
But why are they not bunkered out for testing?
Heat stress I understand and the hose looks great, but man, I a safety all the way.

Some wear boots and a lot wear gloves, but it depends on the weather. If it was September, you might see some in bunkerpants.

I guess in the NAV we were more leery of couplings busting due to Our mis handling of the tested hose.
The 5 inch rubber jacketed could MESS you UP! Sorta like it did our front intake, bad news.
-
Unlike the older 4 and 5" hose , the 4" that we use now has safety latches on the couplings so they can not come apart. There is a little latch on each coupling you have to depress to get the coupling to turn to come apart.
And the 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" is all a threaded coupling, 10 to 12 turns to get it to unscrew.
About the only thing that ever happens is a hose will burst and someone gets all wet.

Amazing....
I guess we had Fred Flintstone hoses.
They popped when put a little pressure on them.
It must have been that salty air.
We had to fly a guy to Anchorage one time when the hose popped and he got hit in the head.
----From Adak ---------
Sad story... he recovered and thought he was a Poodle.
(mama, I gots me a hobbit!)
