SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 9/10/10 at approx. 0916 hrs a motorist traveling on Rt. 7 in Georgia called 911 to report a garage and house fire.  The Georgia and St. Albans Fire Departments responded to the scene and upon arrival a large portion of the garage was engulfed in flames.  The fire quickly spread to the entire garage and also to a vehicle which was parked next to the garage.  The fire departments were able to extinguish the fire but the garage and all the contents within are a total loss as well as the vehicle.  The siding on the house had caught fire but the damage was limited to the exterior of the residence.

The Georgia Fire Department contacted the Vermont State Police and asked that an Origin and Cause fire investigation be conducted.  Fire Investigators from the Vermont State Police and Division of Fire and Safety responded to the scene.  As a result of the investigation it was determined that the fire was accidental and is not considered suspicious.  The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was hurt as a result of the fire and damages are estimated around $80,000.00.

So fortunate that a motorist called it in or they would probably have no home to come to.  Glad no one was hurt!

Motorist with cell phones make good calls once in a while.

Kudos to the firefighters responding on saving the home.
