Geese in the field across from Minor's Store.

I want to apologize for not keeping this current. Lately, there hasn't been anything exciting to take a picture of, and I haven't had a whole lot to blog about.

This had to be a yucky job. It was cold and raining the day I took it.

It's Christmas Time at the Pharmacy.

HEALTH UPDATE
Just to let you know, my last check-up with my kidneys was that the numbers are stable. I am staving off dialysis as long as I can.

Right now, my left knee is giving me trouble. Physical Therapy Friday. Ultrasound next Wednesday. Arthritis in both knees and maybe a Bakers Cyst in the left one.

I'm still in my 40's and I feel old.

Nice banner for the annual Deer Hunters Breakfast. If I can get myself out of bed at a decent time Saturday morning, I will be there. Dad always used to work at the breakfast. Get up at 3am and go up and cook eggs and potatoes and stuff. He really enjoyed the comraderie in the kitchen and seeing all the hunters come in.

THE END OF THE FALL SPORTS SEASON
Sigh.
I was really hoping the boys could have pulled out a victory Tuesday night.

In the grand scheme of things, it was a successful fall sports season for BFA-Fairfax. Five sports. Three state runners-up(boys soccer. boys AND girls cross country). Two state semi-finalists(girls soccer, football). Some wild games and some good memories. Plus Cam Weber won the D3 Boys cross country race, so there is that.
A team championship would have been nice, though. Seems lately we come so close.

Basketball, nordic skiing, and cheerleading is up next. The girls Nordic team won the state title last year. See if Fred Griffin can work his magic with these kids again.

Current News & Events / HELP! Carousel Slide Projector Needed
« on: November 07, 2010, 10:52:22 AM »
Isn't it always the way..............
The Fairfax Historical Society is having a slideshow at the Library next Sunday at 6:30pm.
This past week I hunted around the school looking for a slide projector and finally found one in the Elementary Faculty Room. I was trying it out this morning, and I can't get the focus to work. May try playing with it again later today.
But in the mean time, if it doesn't work, I am looking for a carousel projector. One that takes Kodak carousels. I have two rings of slides.
Anybody know of one around?
At this point, I will also be looking online to buy one if need be.
Thank you!

BFA with ball for 2nd time. No score. Karen Langelier thinks there are more BFA fans than Windsor fans.

Not sure if anyone from the Free Press or Messenger will be at the football game Saturday. Karen Langelier said she will text me with updates from the game, and I will post them here on the Forum. I will start a special thread around game time-1pm.

Wednesday Night Lights

THE ELECTION: MY TWO CENTS
I have come to the conclusion that the American people have the attention span and patience of a fly.
Two years ago, people wanted change. They wanted health care. They wanted the ecomomy to get better.
So changes were made.
Two years later, people no longer want government health care, the economy didn't improve fast enough, so they made changes again.
People are like:
WE WANT CHANGE!!
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?

THREE WEEKS AGO!!

So now changes were made. And two years from now, people will still be unhappy, because NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE NEXT TWO YEARS.
We will effectively have gridlock. The House is Republican. Anything they try to pass, the Democratic Senate will stifle. Anything the Senate tries to pass, it will die in the House. I guarantee that two years from now, President Obama will look old and gray.
And the absolute scary part is Crazy Cuzzin Mike's favorite neighbor is making her mark. Whether she is a third party candidate, or the Republicans say, What the Hell, let's follow her, 2012 will be an outright free-for-all.
And right now, she has a shot at winning. A little voice keeps telling me that Samantha Stephens, or Christine O'Donnell, or whatever her name is, will be her running mate. I am dead serious.

Face it. We can't get along anymore. We are too impatient and selfish. We are divided into Red states and Blue states. We are left or right. And nationally, we can't work with each other. Maybe we can on a local or state level, but I'm not even sure about that.

There is a bit in the play, "1776". It is about the Continental Congress and the drafting of the Declaration of Independence.
Anytime there is a voice vote, New York always abstains, courteously. Exasperated, John Hancock, President of the Congress, demands to know why New York always abstains. "Why doesn't New York stay in New York?"
The representative explains:
"Have you ever been to an assembly of the New York legislature? Everyone speaks very loudly and all at the same time, so no one listens to each other. Therefore, nothing ever gets done."
235 years later, we will be in the same boat.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

The Flood. One of the biggest stories in Fairfax's history.
To learn how the storm developed and why the flood occured, read all about it here:

November 3, 1927 was the last full day of this bridge's and many other's, existence.
