General Discussion / Minor roof repairs
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:42:29 PM »
A piece of trim blew off our roof recently. I have the piece of trim but I'm looking for someone to reattach it.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Torrie,

In the past all flower orders had to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance. Is there a phone number that I could call to verify? We usually order 20+ plants all the same type and color.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update. Looks like we missed out on ordering.
I'll have to ask earlier next year.

BFA Sports Events / Little league flower sale?
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:09:36 AM »
We usually buy flowers through the little league but haven't seen any notices yet this year. One of our neighbors who had sons in little league moved out of town last year.

Is it too late to place an order?

Thanks,

Kevin

I agree with Shelly. I have been going fairly regularly for about 3 years or so, and really enjoy the workouts. Lisa mixes up the workouts, and provides continual encouragement for all of us.

Thor,

According to today's BFP, they held a meeting yesterday to try to come up with a response to the order to vacate city hall park. It doesn't look like they were able to come up with a consensus, and ran out of time at the building they were using. Much of their discussion centered on whether to allow the media during their meeting, and which media types would be allowed.

Stay tuned.

News at 11. Maybe. -;)

Kevin,

I feel badly for the victim and his family, that the shooting occurred. The point that I was trying to convey was that the Occupy Burlington protesters appeared to determine for themselves what types of behaviors/activities should be allowed in City Hall Park. This was in spite of being provided guidelines from by the city, to allow them to continue camping there.

Violations of these guidelines were brought to the protesters attention, without any repurcussion, implying approval of their actions, and anything goes.

I fully support everyone's right for peaceful assembly, and the free speech that we all enjoy in being able to convey our points of view. I am hopeful that the protesters will learn from this tragic situation.

It is also sad to think that this shooting at City Hall Park could have been avoided, if there was anyone other than Bob Kiss as Mayor of Burlington. He has continually allowed them to camp there, even though they were in violation of a number of city ordinances. I understand the the Burlington Police have recommended shutting the camp down as a result of the shooting, but Bob Kiss said no.

Makes me grateful that we live in Fairfax, and not in Burlington.

I also want to thank all those involved with this year's Egg Run. It was great to see so many participating, from all ages. The 10KM (6.2 miles, Mike) course was a good, challenging course.

Sorry, I don't get on the forum every day. We are in the village area, on Old Academy Street.

General Discussion / Snack survey in Fairfax?

Someone just stopped by the house, carrying a basket of cookies, crackers and chips. 1 of them handed the basket to my wife and wanted to know if he could come in and take a survey. My wife advised them that she was busy. There were 2 men in total, 1 who stayed in a green mini-van with Vermont plates and 1 who came to the door. They left and kept going.

As they did not identify who they were representing, or display any identification, it seemed suspicious.

Curious if they stopped by anywhere else.

Just curious if there are any official snow depths for Fairfax. I think I saw on the news this morning that Fletcher received 20". We live in the village here, and I would guess that we received at least 1 foot. Much less snow in the Burlington area.

We wound up going to White's yesterday. They are on route 15, on the Essex/Jericho line. $32.00 per tree.
