Someone commented to me that they could not see the pictures posted?  Is that true?  But I believe they are on as a Guest and I am logged in.

Still missing one of our cats,
Dave

“This house has been known for this activity for a long time!!” If this is the case, I wonder why action has not been taken or attention drawn toward the issue?  Why wait until either someone else takes action or a tragedy takes place?

Current News & Events / Re: ATV Caught
« on: November 25, 2010, 08:08:01 AM »
I drove by when the ATV was being put onto a pick up.  It was NOT one of those which are out of control, a very different model.  Not one of the two or three I have seen racing up and down Sheperdson Hollow over the years.

Too bad it is not time to celebrate.

Current News & Events / River Otter along Stone Brook
« on: February 06, 2010, 03:47:42 PM »
One of my daughters and I were wandering around the woods along Stone Brook today and saw where a river otter had been sliding on the ice….and me without my camera.  It was not too far from Henry’s house just upstream from “Mcginn’s Woods”.   There were at least half a dozen spots where it had slid on its belly just to have fun.   It is great to see that they are still around.  I saw one closer to our house, along a rivulet which feeds into Stone Brook last summer.

I hope to get back out there and take a few pictures tomorrow if the snow has not changed too much.

Current News & Events / Re: Do You Use A TV Antenna???
« on: October 16, 2008, 09:46:55 AM »
It is my understanding that you might NOT need a converter.  I just checked the weblink you have here and if your TV is has a digital tuner, then you will not need a converter and the antenna should still work.

I am not a TV tech, but do work in the Telecom field.

My guess, by looking at Google Maps, Terrain, is that your house is about 500 feet.  I am sure someone with a GPS could give you a better number than that.

For the first time in 5 years of living in Fairfax we had a group of what sounded like teenagers around our house not once but twice yesterday.  The first was during the day, when they came up out of the woods and into our yard.  When approached, they ran.

Then at about 10:30 last night, we heard talking and laughing again in the woods close to the house.  We turned on the deck lights and I went out with a spot light, did not see them, but did hear them once more.

We choose the property for its seclusion, one of the few homes on DusteTrail where we face Stone Brook.  I don’t have a problem with people hiking, hunting or just plain   wandering around during the day and but be respectful and let us know you are around.  At least, don’t run off when approached.  What is disconcerting even more is the nighttime activity.  With all that has been happening in the area regarding break-ins and the like.

I will be contacting all our neighbors so as they can be on the lookout for any activity around their properties as well as I plan to extend out to stopping by the homes on Finch, Tracy and Megan roads.

We live off Shepardson Hollow and more than once the kids or I have had to jump toward the ditch to avoid being hit by one or two ATVs as they scream up and down the road.  While I have not heard or seen them much this year, last summer they were a physical and auditory menace.  From where our house sits, we could hear tearing down on River Road, up Shepardson Hollow and out across the Fletcher Road.  Most of the time there were two of them, one with a two-cycle motor, the other with a four (can tell by the sound).

I don’t have an issue with 4-wheelers, it is the manner in which they are used I take issue.  I am sure my close by neighbors and friends are not the leaving marks on the pavement from doing doughnuts, or scaring kids into the ditch.

It would be great if the ATV concern could be addressed before something tragic happens, or is it to late.
