School buses have been running for the past few weeks to transport over 80 students to summer school here at BFA. This is a very beneficial program for many of our students. They continue with their studies and receive lunch. Many thanks to the staff and students who have conducted this program.

I would like to clarify the fire call that was called in yesterday afternoon. There was a fire permit obtained. It was not an illegal burn. At that time it was unattended as the person responsible had gone home for a few minutes. There was smoke only and no actual flames. The fire was about out. The information given over the scanner was not correct. Thank you to Tom and Mike for responding.

The community of Fairfax can be very proud of the entire softball team this season. This was a group of youg ladies that continually supported each other. BFA has not seen a team such as this since the early eighties. Congratulations to the coaching staff and many thanks to all who supported these girls. Great season.

Henry, I understand that if you filed an income tax return and you directed direct deposit to your bank account that the check goes into your account. Both my husband and I are due and his has been deposited to the bank. Still waiting for mine.

Would there be a possibility to purchase land behind the Grange Hall for parking? Space is limited within the Town Center for a much needed Community Center.

Don't hold your breath! We have been waiting for a credit since November 2008 when we left Verizon and have been promised by Fairpoint after three phone calls and finally a letter that we would receive the money due.

I, like Henry, did not have television growing up. No television and no car. We had a radio and crank telephone. When we went to church, shopping or to school, we walked. Today, my hero would be my mother.

There is an accuracy watch in the St. Albans Messenger today as the information in yesterday's paper regarding the school budget at the end of the town article is not correct. A retraction was printed. Lisa Boucher did not submit the information that was printed.

I would like to remind all of the community that you had the opportunity to attend the budget preparation meeting so that the School Board would have input into what you would like to see or what to cut. I would like to inform you that the hot lunch program has not been in the budget for some years now. The Abbey has the complete responsibility for preparing both breakfast and lunch menus. Just a reminder, the complete budget presentation for 2009-2010 will be held on Monday, February 16, 2009 in the Elementary Gym at 7:00 pm. It will also be presented at Town Meeting on Saturday, February 28th at 10:00 AM.

The School Board will be addressing this issue as the safety of the numerous community members and our cross country ski team using the hills and trail on the school grounds is a major issue and a concern for the entire community.
