I am sorry, I pay enough in taxes to have this added tax put on to my budget. I will continue to put out the trash as I always have and if it does not get picked up it will stay. I am sure the tourists that pass through the village will like this. What's next (and there will be a next) parents will have to pay for bussing then school supplies, then sports, then excise tax for driving on the road. These are all the reasons I left Mass. Taking items out of the town and school budget and forcing the residents to pay for it is a tax increase. They need to be voted on.

The Fletcher Girl Scouts will be selling cookies outside the Kinney Drug store in Cambridge from 9am to 3 pm Sunday March 8th. (this Sunday). Don't forget day light savings.

I refuse to put my on until October. Grab a blanket, put on a sweatshirt. At about 800 bucks a month (for the winter months) in oil to heat my home. I wait as long as I can.

LOL Ed. Pressure treated has arsenic/alkaline in it. and cedar is to hot and fast. Vinyl fence makes to much black smoke and chain link takes to much gas to get burning. Need hard woods.

Going Places Learning Center would like to announce the new hire of a Program Director, Ashley Almonte. Here is a little about her credentials and experiences. Along with a brief note from Ashley.
Education:
SUNY Potsdam - Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education
Syracuse University - Master's Degree in Literacy Education for Birth through Grade 6
Experience:
Teacher in an urban setting in Washington DC, working with children age 3-11
Early Childhood Teacher - Birth-Age 5, 1:1 aide for child with disability
Interim Assistant Director/Front Desk Receptionist at an Early Childhood Establishment.
Other experiences:
Harvard Project Zero Training
Hands on Plant Science Training
My hope for the future of Going Places Learning Center is to build a foundation of learning by implementing best practices and providing exciting hands-on and literacy-rich experiences for our children. I also hope to work together with colleagues to play on the current strengths of the center and grow, developing qualities that will lead us to become a 5 STAR accredited early learning center. I am very excited to work with Going Places Learning Center and look forward to meeting the children, parents, and community members!

Hawley, Dr. Curtis F., is descended from the pioneer stock in Fairfax, being the son of Lyman and grandson of Abijah Hawley, the latter having settled in Buck Hollow in 1790. The wife of Lyman was Betsey Hawley, by whom he had a large family of children. By his second wife, Melissa Wells, he had two children. Curtis F. Hawley was born August 2, 1826, and lived on the home farm until he was eighteen. He was educated in the common schools and in Bakersfield Academy. He read medicine with Dr. John Branch, of St. Albans, and afterwards attended the Castleton Medical College, from which institution he was graduated in June, 1889. This was followed by a post graduate course in the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York city, after which he commenced practice in Fletcher in 1849, moving to Fairfax in 1858. Dr. Hawley is a successful practitioner, and an active member of both the State and County Medical Societies. During the war he had a valuable experience in the hospital at Brattleboro. In 1851 he married Louisa A., daughter of William R. Boynton, of Fletcher, of which marriage four children have been born. He also has one child by adoption. In 1872-14 Mr. Hawley represented his town in the legislature. He has frequently been selectman, and has held the offices of town clerk, treasurer, and superintendent.

Curtis F. Hawley owned my house from 1859 to 1888. I wonder if there is any relation to this family.
