This Friday’s Community Playgroup:
Thank you to the Foster family for providing this week’s snack!
Our theme is the letter ‘C’. Our craft is ‘Beading the Little Caterpillar’ – these little cuties are all ready to be picked out by the little ones and beaded.
Save the date – Meet a Firefighter and explore a fire truck at Community Playgroup on October 25th from 9:15 to 10:15 for fire safety awareness month!
FYI I'm really trying to put the word out there - our numbers - both attendees and volunteers - have really dwindled & people don't know there are a small number of volunteers in our community working hard to get success by six up and running again. If we don't get enough volunteers we will not be able to continue some of the great programs we have had in the past. If you or if you know someone who loves babies & children & would like to volunteer please contact us at fairfaxsx6@gmail.com As you can see from our website the community playgroup and open tiot gym is happening (yet we still need volunteers for both programs, to facilitate some dates of open tot gym and to help with cleaning of toys for both of these programs, crafts, etc), but other programs - such as the kindergarten transition group that occurs over the summer, the birthday bash, etc. we need someone to step forward and coordinate these activities. As we do not have a liaison to take the lead on any of the activities we need volunteers in order to make these programs happen. Any help is appreciated & we would love to hear from the members of our community.

Upcoming Workshop: Please join Success by Six on Tuesday, April 3rd at 6pm in the Multi-Purpose Room as Scott Noyes presents a workshop on:
Genuine Happiness
Research is showing what qualities do and don't have an effect on our genuine happiness. Does making more money, staying healthy, getting as much education as possible or living in a sunnier climate actually make us more happy? Advancing to the higher range of your sustainable happiness can be achieved by feelings you consciously choose to associate with the past, present and future. Realizing that we are capable of changing our emotional satisfaction with life puts us in control of making choices that will alter the way we look at being human.
How could these psychological behaviors influence raising children? What can we do to help develop authentically happy children? Pleasures and gratifications are distinctly different behaviors. Where in the daily care of children can we increase gratification while stopping the emphasis society puts on pleasures?
Professional Development credits for childcare providers. This workshop is FREE and open to everyone! Please RSVP by calling 782-6332 or emailing fairfaxsx6@hotmail.com. I hope to see you there!

Email us at fairfaxsx6@hotmail.com or call 782-6332. Big Truck Day Coordinator: Plan, host, and have a blast! Email us at fairfaxsx6@hotmail.com or call 782-6332. Success by Six is an organization that depends completely on help from volunteers to offer early childhood programs. Our our primary goal is to promote and support healthy development while improving school readiness. We do this through various free parent workshops, childcare provider trainings, educational opportunities, and parent/child activities: including playgroups, story hours, kindergarten transition services, welcome infant services and special family fun events, like the Annual Birthday Bash. Thank you all for helping us achieve this goal.

As many of you may be aware, Fairfax Success by Six offers free programs to families from our area. Preschool Story Time, which occurs every Tuesday beginning on September 13th, has two wonderful volunteers this year facilitating. However, Friday morning Community Playgroup needs two facilitators to begin on Friday, September 9th. As of this time, the playgroup is cancelled until volunteers become available. What does facilitation of the Community Playgroup require? It requires two people to have a theme for the playgroup, and using the theme create crafts, songs, read books, and administer a snack. There are books for facilitators to use that do all this work for them. The hours required to be at school are from 8:45am-10:45am every Friday. There is a stipend offered for facilitation of this activity. Please consider volunteering!
Contact Success by Six by email at fairfaxsx6@hotmail.com if you can help. There is also a dire need for volunteers to continue the following programs offered by Success by Six: - Two Liaisons: These are the volunteers who manage the entire program. Write grants, manage a budget, coordinate events, organize with the school, learn from state organizations, and more!
- Welcome Infant Services: Volunteers needed to have boxes of welcome infant bag contents stored at their homes, as well as deliver bags to families in Fairfax. Mileage is reimbursed.
- Fairfax Fire & Rescue Safety Day: This event takes place on the second Saturday in Oct. Volunteer is needed to coordinate the day, which begins at 10am at the Fire/Rescue building on Goodall Street. Volunteer needed to begin coordination by Sept. 8th for scheduling purposes. This event will be cancelled if no one is available.

Rod, It would be ideal, yes, if this project could wait until Spring. I'm just not sure about the logistics. Cederman, This is a great question! And thank you very much for such a nice offer and suggestion!
At this point, with the snow piling up as quickly as it has, I'm going to FW all these idea/volunteer/suggestions to Patricia Hendee, the co-liaison for BFA-Fairfax Success by Six to get her input as well!
Best to all!

The date of the Shed Project is still up in the air...it really does depend on volunteer availability. As of now, we have one volunteer. Once more people contact us, we'll be able to put together the date. Hopefully, it happens this weekend, preferably Saturday, December 11. Thank you all very much for your continued community support of Early Education programs.

Saturday, October 9, 2010 is Fire & Safety Day in the community of Fairfax. We need a Sign-In Volunteer. This volunteer position would require the volunteer to sign people in from 10am-12noon. This is a networking opportunity and a great way to meet many, many members of our growing community.
We keep this tally of Fire & Safety Day attendees to help us get financing to buy things like signs for posters and to get items donated like the Scampers Gift Certificate that we're giving away this year. Please, volunteer today by calling:
Erica at 527-1941
