I don't have much to offer info-wise but I think the accident may have happened closer to 11:00am.  I went through around 11:30 and there was a state trooper at the corner below the hill where the B&B is now.  I was headed west towards Georgia and couldn't see the vehicle off the road - just the trooper.

FLETCHER - Bethany Cota, daughter of Larry and Denise Cota of Fletcher, and Ryan Wells, son of Randy and Stacy Wells of Westford, were united in marriage Sept. 24.

The Rev. Alice Ling officiated at the double-ring ceremony. A reception was held at Boyden Barn in Cambridge. Mrs. Wells graduated from Bellows Free Academy Fairfax and the University of Vermont. She is a nurse at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Her husband graduated from Bellows Free Academy Fairfax and Vermont Technical College. He is an engineer at Green Mountain Engineering. The couple reside in Essex.

well...now that the beams are down things should be moving along rather quickly;

first they had to tighten all of the beams together width-wise and then pour grout (probably the "cementing" that you observed, Henry) into the narrow little gaps between each beam.  Next step will be to form and cast the side walks, then apply an impermeable membrane ontop of the beams.  Once the membrane is down and has been torch heated to remove any wrinkles they should be able to black top it.  they will probably clean up the approach sections of road and match the grade to the finished elevation of the bridge so that they can pave it all in one shot.  the last thing would be the guardrails on each side that simply fasten to the outer most beams...shouldn't be long now...

I will be home this weekend for the Boissoneault wedding and I'll be sure to have a look see; the magic number is 28 - that is the GC needs to have the bridge re-opened to traffic within 28 days of having closed it and there are significant monetary incentives to make that deadline or even finish prior to it...July 5th will be day 28.

I know that there was some exploratory work done to determine the structural integrity and future durability of the abutments  -- I don't know what the exact results were but it must've been good enough b/c as you stated, they didn't replace anything...I know that a lot of work was done to re-establish good drainage (all the hole digging and re-filling that ya'll witnessed)....there are large stones but my guess is that they are mostly asthetic (probably a concrete wall behind them) b/c the beam seat as well as the footing below the stones is all concrete and visibly in very good condition...a great thing about concrete is that as long as it is hasn't been deteriorated (due to freezing/thawing or road de-icers, etc) it gets stronger every day and forever.

the grinding that you see in that last pic wasn't exactly part of the plan, Mike...but it all came together in the end...should have the last of the beams placed today;  would anyone be able to get some photos when they use the excavators to place the last (2) beams?  it should be sometime this (Monday, June 14th) afternoon.
