Current News & Events / Re: BFA SCHOOL BUDGET REVOTE INFORMATION
« on: March 19, 2014, 09:53:25 PM »
For those who are interested, this report was produced in January 2014  for the Vt. Association of Realtors by economists Art Woolf and Richard Heaps.
http://www.vermontrealtors.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Report-on-Vermont-Education-Funding-System-01272014c.pdf

Even if you read only the Executive Summary, it gives an explanation of why Vermont spending on education has increased so much in the last 15 years.  I think it makes for very interesting reading and may help us all understand a little better what is happening in the education funding landscape in Vermont.

We stopped on tuesday and picked several containers of both drops (for our piggies) and apples off the trees for us.  Thank you so much, they are beautiful apples and we appreciate your generosity.  We'll be back for more drops if is ok. Carol and Dave

Current News & Events / Re: Bus decision
« on: December 07, 2011, 06:45:17 PM »
I haven't followed this situation at all, however, as a voter it would be very helpful to see more information.  The bid prices are quite clear as is the cost of bus purchases, but what about the current operating costs?  What does it cost for personnel (salaries and fringe benefits included), repairs, the bus garage, fuel, insurance etc.  as well as the annual depreciation on the current buses and all other overhead costs.  A spreadsheet with these numbers side by side with the bids would be helpful in rational decision making.  If this information exists somewhere and is easily retrievable, please let me know.
Thanks!
