This morning I received a reply from the Fire Dept:
Good morning, Last night the Fire Department did a controlled burn for wildland/brush fire training. We coordinated with the Recreation Department, to select overgrown areas along the Rec path that they wanted cleaned up. General Discussion / Long Fire Line by walking path« on: April 24, 2018, 09:12:34 PM »
Tonight 4/24/, I saw a long fire line by the walking path, by the river.
I was wondering if this was a controlled burn? It didn't Fit the pattern of a brush fire. It was a very long fire almost In a straight line. Fire crews were there hosing it down. Anyone see this? I took some photos . But don't know How to post here. Nancyd 7

General Discussion / A Stranger's Christmas Gift at the Supermarket- paid it forward« on: December 22, 2017, 07:48:42 AM »Hello, Yesterday I was shopping at Hannaford in Essex. My shopping cart was packed full of Christmas meal items. Before loading my goodies on the conveyor belt, I took a quick look behind me and saw a man standing patiently behind his cart. He had far fewer items that would be "eligible" for the Express lane. I invited him to go ahead of me in line. He said " you don't have to do that". I insisted saying " I would be a terrible person if I didn't". He smiled and said "Merry Christmas". I smiled back at him, with " Merry Christmas". I was too busy loading my things to notice a most precious gesture from this stranger. Out of breath, and with an sigh of exhaustion, I finally looked at the cashier, who asked if I knew the man. I said "No". She replied " Because he just left you $100.00 for your groceries". I was in shock, and I quickly looked around for him, but he was already out of sight. My bill was $240.00 of which I was only charged $140.00! I asked the cashier if She knew his name. She told me, but I am unable to locate him to thank him. He may be out of sight but will never be out of mind. And as for me? I will make sure I pay it Forward. Happy Holidays NancyD Update: I have paid it forward by giving out 20.00 to 5 people; To the crew at the dump site on Morse Rd in Fairfax, And to someone I know who really needs it. 9

General Discussion / Re: Your opinion on a HEAT PUMP heating system« on: April 15, 2017, 06:50:35 PM »
Thank you to everyone with your comments!
We have a propane furnace... Well did have one, a Peerless. For a few years we have been using wood pellets. Much more economical. However... Hard work bringing the bags in and filling the stove. Had furnace inspected.. Not safe this winter because of Carbon monoxide safety issue. My son recommended a heat pump... But I know now it's not For us. OK.... Will go with a traditional new propane furnace, Probably a Weil Mc. Thank you!!! Nancy 13
General Discussion / Your opinion on a HEAT PUMP heating system« on: April 12, 2017, 06:22:59 PM »
Hello,
I've read a little about a heat pump heating system instead of Using the traditional oil or propane furnace. Green Mountain installs These. It is suppose to save you on your energy bills. However, what is required is the installation of a heating unit in each room. Any opinions? Do you use this system? Thanks! Nancy 14
