General Discussion / Attempted Theft?
« on: July 21, 2014, 07:42:44 PM »
We live on Woodward Rd.

At 3:30am on Saturday (technically Sunday), two men on a 4 wheeler pulling a cart were shining lights across our house and yard. They did they same to my neighbor across the street before pulling into my driveway.

I woke up as soon as I heard them. The cart they were pulling was squeaky...really squeaky. When I saw them pulling into the driveway I turned every light on, inside and out. One yelled something to the other and they took off.

They came down Woodward from Huntville and left towards Buck Hollow.

Anyone know of a business or person in the area who sells and delivers mulch? I need about 2 yards. Thanks for your help!

No Oreos, but I did have a guy come up asking me to answer survey questions. I pretty much shut the door in face when he started looking around inside. I was watching him leave when it looked like he was writing our license plate numbers down. At that point I came out of the house fuming, asking if he was writing our license plate numbers down. He denied it and stood there while I took his clipboard and looked through every piece of paper he had. He didn't write the plate numbers down, but he was checking off little boxes.

He walked off and got picked up by someone a little ways down the road.

The papers were basically a spreadsheet with roads and addresses. No idea if it really was for a survey or something else entirely

I've given up trying to mow certain areas of my yard. Instead, I spend an hour using the weed wacker to cut what should take me 15min on the mower. Gotta do what you gotta do....

Current News & Events / Water on 128

I wanted to give everyone a heads up there is about a foot of water across 128 right after you enter Essex around Pettengill Road. Most cars were stopping to find an alternate route, but trucks were going through with no problem.

This is something I've gotten a recent heads up on happening to businesses in the Burlington area as well. They will call and tell you they are from the manufacturer of the credit card pinpads. They have the cashier do things to the pinpad and read them numbers and messages it says all in an attempt to hack the system to retrieve credit card numbers and authorization codes specific to that business.

They don't just target individuals, businesses and their employees need to be aware of these types of scams as well.
