Current News & Events / Housing Needed For 2 Chinese Students

Housing Needed for Two-Week Chinese Exchange Students

BFA Fairfax is excited to participate in the 6th annual Chinese Cultural Exchange Camp. This two-week program offers English language immersion for Chinese students and an amazing cultural education opportunity for BFA students and families.

In order to make this program possible BFA must secure host families for approximately 30 Chinese students and two Chinese teachers. The commitment is simple: house two students for two weeks, and receive a stipend of $200 per student to help with expenses. These students are in school weekdays from 8-5:00.

The two-week exchange will take place from July 19-31. Transportation is available. Don’t have an extra bed-one can be provided! Have a previous engagement during the exchange-we can help find a temporary housing while you are away! We are happy to accommodate your needs.

If you are even a little bit intrigued, please take that next step to ask any questions. We have many families that have hosted in the past and would be happy to share their experiences, too.

You will be surprised how much of a difference this opportunity makes in the lives of the students and families with a simple exchange of culture, ideas and friendship.

For more information please contact Sara Villeneuve svilleneuve@fwsu.org

General Discussion / Re: Need Your Input on Cable TV

We have DISH Network also.  We have been happy with it, and you can usually negotiate them down on price pretty well, especially if you talk about other offers from competitors.  We have DISH incentive coupons if you're interested.  It will save you money monthly .... and we get a kick back, too! I can leave them at the town library if you are interested. (no, I don't work for the company, I just like to save a few bucks!)

Current News & Events / American Red Cross Blood Drive
« on: November 13, 2015, 09:21:57 AM »
BFA Fairfax will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, November 17 in the Middle School gymnasium from 11:00-4:30.  Please consider the gift of life and donate.  Appointments can be made at http://www.redcrossblood.org/ or by contacting Sara Villeneuve at svilleneuve@fwsu.org.

This is a recent story about just how close to home the need for blood donations are.  Courtney Boutin, who just recently moved away from Fletcher, shared the story of her daughter's desperate need for blood http://www.mychamplainvalley.com/news/giving-blood-hits-home-for-essex-mom

Feel free to comment with your own personal stories of how blood donations has changed your life for the best.  In this time of thanks, it truly is a lifesaving gift!

Current News & Events / Erica's Restaurant

Stopped in for breakfast today at the new restaurant in town; excellent breakfast, reasonable prices, great service, and very nice to see the return of the booth seating.  They have a smaller menu to start, but choices were classics with something to appeal to all pallets.  Try it out!

(I was a little disappointed that they were charging extra for real Vermont syrup-I'd rather just have the price rolled in to the cost of the meal....it is Vermont after all!)

Dear Mr. Webb,
If you would ever even remotely consider selling any of this land on this picturesque hill, PLEASE contact me!  It is my favorite view in all of Fairfax.  I am so lucky to enjoy it every single day as I pass by your beautiful farm. I would even overlook my slight fear of living next to a cemetery to enjoy this view.

BFA Fairfax is excited to welcome the 5th Annual Chinese Cultural Exchange program.  We have 30 students and 2 teachers visiting from July 17-29 as part a language immersion program.  They are staying with host families throughout Fairfax and neighboring towns.  There are also 17 Fairfax students serving as ambassadors as part of the a daily academic program.  This course is designed for both Chinese and American students to learn about about history, geography, economics, and culture. Please help us welcome these students to our community!
