St. Albans – Mabel J. Bonnett, 90, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Franklin County Health and Rehab following a lengthy illness. She was born in Burlington July 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Noel and Jenny (Hurley) Wimble. She was the widow of Fred Bonnett, Sr. who died September 16, 1987. Before her retirement in 1987, Mabel was the secretary for the family business, Bonnetts Welding of St. Albans.
Mabel was a communicant of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax. She enjoyed cooking for her family and following the racing Bonnetts.
Survivors include her three sons and their wives; Fred, Jr., and Sandra Bonnett of Orange City Florida, Eugene and Shelley Bonnett of Georgia, VT, and Ronald and Janet Bonnett of St. Albans, ten grandchildren; Travis and Gale Bonnett, Tracy and Timmy Barrett, Lori Bonnett, Amy Perkins, Kylee Bonnett, Jason and Sarah Bonnett, Chelsea and Allen Sanford, Jennifer, Brandi, Kari and Jesse Shilling, thirteen great grandchildren; Alex, Kaela, Tayton, Tanner, Hannah, Preston, Meghan, James, Landon, Owen, Angelica, Anu and Kamal. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Hilda Mae Bonnett, Patricia Wimble and Ramona Wimble and many nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred Sr., daughter, Patricia Shilling in November of 1991, grandson, Michael Shilling in 1975, and brothers, William, Maurice, Karl and Ken Wimble.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Church on Lake Street with the Pastor, Father Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Bonnett lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.
