Citizens for Fairfax Community, Inc. (CFC)
11/23/10 Meeting Minutes:

HEADLINES:
▪   The annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities will take place Saturday, Dec 11, 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Ann and Katrina are coordinating the event and are looking for volunteers.
▪   The Deer Hunters and Family Breakfast was quite successful; with an increase in attendance from last year, tended to by a mix of volunteers from the Masons, United Church, and CFC. The proceeds will be used for the upkeep of the Baptist building.
▪   The planning grant “pre-application” has been submitted. The Selectboard will warn a public hearing regarding the grant for Dec 20, which means that the application should be submitted in time to be considered at VCDP’s Feb 10 meeting.

Reports:
▪   The annual Christmas Tree Lighting festivities will take place Saturday, Dec 11, 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Ann and Katrina are coordinating the event and are looking for volunteers.
▪   The Deer Hunters and Family Breakfast was quite successful; with an increase in attendance from last year tended to by a mix of volunteers from the Masons, CFC, and United Church. Over $700 was raised for the maintenance of the Baptist building.
▪   Susie reported that the planning grant “pre-application” has been submitted. The Selectboard will warn a public hearing regarding the grant for Dec 20, which means that the application should be considered at VCDP’s Feb 10 meeting. The main piece of information still to be figured out is an estimate of how much of the community center’s available square footage will be dedicated to activities that serve low income folks over the course of a year. This will determine what percent of the grant we are eligible for. Paul and Eda are helping Susie calculate that number.
▪   Eda will ask her sister to propose a woodblock-style rendition of the Baptist building for use in our logo, based on a sketch Paul made, plus available photographs.

New business:
▪   Mark has heard back from all of the Trustees on what days of the month they are available to meet. As a result, we will begin meeting on the third Wednesday of the month.
▪   We need to elect officers for the coming year and have all the Trustees endorse our Conflict of Interest Policy before this first fiscal quarter ends, Dec 31. Therefore we will hold a brief Board meeting on Dec 15.

Meeting adjourned: 7:35 PM

Next Board Meeting: Wed Dec 15, 6:30 PM at Eda Kirkpatrick’s home (directions to follow)

Next Full Meeting: Wed, Jan 19, 2011 at the Hunziker’s home.

January agenda in brief:  Reports, discussion and “to-dos” re:
▪   VCDP grant status
▪   CFC logo design
▪   Zeroing-in on what’s next

Respectfully submitted,
Mark Hunziker, Secretary
