The last morning of January was a typical cold one.  And despite lots of sunshine today, temperatures will be a good 10 to 15 degrees below average.  I had 10° below zero here at my place on The Fletcher Road.

We'll slowly start to warm up overnight tonight as clouds move in ahead of a large snowstorm that will be affecting our area starting mid-day Tuesday.  There will be two parts to this storm.  The first part will bring light to moderate snow on Tuesday, with 1-4" accumulating by the end of the day.  After a brief lull, a heavier batch of snow will move in for Groundhog Day on Wednesday.  As much as 8-16" of snow may pile up by Thursday morning when the storm finally leaves the northeast.

There is a *WINTER STORM WATCH* for Tuesday evening through Wednesday night for the entire North Country.

And if anyone is heading to southern New England during this storm, I hear their snow is going to change over to sleet and ice storm.  Many places of businesses are already planning on closing offices during this time down that way and airlines like Jet Blue are allowing you to change your flights free of charge for several airports to avoid the storm.

So I have to say I am THANKFUL that ours will be snow up here!

Today, I had a patient tell me that Dartmouth-Hitchcock had already canceled his sons procedure for tomorrow. So if anyone is heading south, maybe call ahead to make sure your appointment (or whatever occasion) hasn't already been canceled. Stay safe. Also hoping that nobody gets any freezing rain, etc.
