Recently, Peter Yee of Redstone represented Sidon Pantry LLC, the owner of 951 Main St., Fairfax (formerly Country Pantry Restaurant), in the equipment sale and lease transaction of this property.  Lisa Middelton, of Calais, with help of her family, has opened The Country Pantry Diner, and plans to maintain the same fun and family atmosphere as the old Country Pantry Restaurant.

I would like to hear from people that ate there Mothers' Day.  I had someone tell me that they had no menu and the food was terrible.  We ate there last week and were completely happy with the food and service.

We ate there on Mother's Day.  I got there about 8:30 and put our name on the waiting list.  Lots of people were waiting.  Staff was handing out free coffee, which was a nice touch.  We were seated at 9:00, which was good for us, but I did hear other small parties complaining that they waited a long time while other large parties were seated.  Lots of people left.  Large parties may have called ahead as instructed to do, or when large tables opened up, it sometimes doesn't make sense to put a small party at it.  The food came out of the kitchen quick and was just okay (eggs undercooked and home fries were not hot).  Service was really good, but I do think they where overwhelmed and not as prepared as they could have been.  I did hear that they didn't open until 8:00 and there was a line waiting to get in starting at 7:30 AM; so they may have been in the weeds before they opened!  Working in the restaurant industry for about 10 years gives me a different perspective than alot of folks. I think they are still getting oriented to the ebbs and flows of this business and  I will definitely go back when it's a bit less busy.  Overall I think they did a good job for a very busy Mother's Day.  I wish them well and it's great to have a restaurant back in town.
