St. Albans - Carol Lynne (Watson) Paarz passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, July 17, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
Lynne was born in Akron, Ohio, on Aug. 24, 1942, the daughter of Robert G. and Mildred I. Watson. Lynne graduated from Marple-Newtown High School in Newtown Square, Pa., Class of 1960, and went to work at the Atlantic Refining Co. in Philadelphia. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Jeffrey Paarz, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Broomall, Pa. Together they moved to Colorado and saw the births of their two sons, David and John. In 1967, another move brought them to Wakefield, Mass., where they put down roots and added two lovely daughters, Melanie and Meredith, to their family.
Lynne worked as a payroll supervisor for many years at Charrette Corp. in Woburn, Mass. She was a devoted mother and spent most of her time with her children, supporting them in their various school and sporting events. She was a member of Old South United Methodist Church in Reading, Mass. and was involved in many church groups and activities, including teaching Sunday school.
Upon retiring in 2002, Lynne moved one final time to Fairfax. There she and Jeff bought an old farmhouse and spent a great deal of time lovingly restoring it. She spent much of her summer months outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was actively involved in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in St. Albans, chairing the Women’s Mission Group. For the first time, Lynne truly felt she had found a home in Vermont.
For many years, Lynne cared for her ailing mother, Millie, who passed away less than a year and a half ago. Since then, she has devoted her time to caring for her youngest grandson, Teddy. When she could get away, she enjoyed spending time at her lakefront cottage on Echo Lake in East Charleston, Vt., with her family and her two dogs. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them compete in their various sporting events.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of nearly 48 years, Jeffrey, along with her son, David, his wife, Karen, and his children, Henry, Sophia, and William, of Wakefield, Mass., her son, John of Fairfax, her daughter, Melanie and husband, Christopher Dattilio, and their son, Teddy, of Georgia, and her daughter, Meredith and husband, John McClellan, and their two daughters, Cameron and Caitlin of Essex Junction. She is also survived by her sister, Careen Lehman and husband, Frank Kubica, of Highlands, N.J.; and her brother, Keith Watson and wife, Beth, of West Chester, Pa.
Lynne lived a full and happy life to the end. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Lynne’s life is planned for Saturday, Sept. 3, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in St. Albans.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation in Lynne’s name to the American Cancer Society.
