For Baseball fans  who consider themselves students of the GAME , Michael Lewis' Moneyball Novel is a must-read . It's widely speculated in the Boston Globe that  the General Managers of the Sox, Rays & the Yankees subscribe to Billy Beane's theories .

I have heard of that book and movie.

I cannot wait to see it. Although the movie won't do justice to the book.

I had no idea who was in the cast.
I would have thought George Plimpton or Ken Burns...

The Chicago Cubs just fired their General Manager and are looking outside their organization for a replacement , " one who is familiar with and can utilize recent statistical formulas"
i.e., that started by Billy Beane's system which is discussed in Moneyball .
