A Vermont auto shop is cleaning up following a morning fire. It happened around 10:45 at Georgia Auto Parts on Ethan Allen Highway.

The owner, who did not want to talk on camera says he saw a think layer of smoke in the attic, and called firefighters.

Crews were forced to cut a hole in the roof to fight the flames. The owner says there's no significant damage.

They were lucky the fire didn't spread to the rest of the building where highly flammable materials are stored.

No word on what caused the fire.

The St. Albans Messenger stated that the Georgia blaze was quickly controlled Friday.  Georgia Firefighters cut a hole in the roof of Georgia Auto Parts late Friday morning in order to gain access to a fire believed to have been caused by the chimney for the buildings used oil furnace.  Firefighters from Milton and St. Albans Town were also called to the scene, according to Georgia Fire Chief Chris Goneyau.  The blaze was doused in less than half an hour and damage confined to a 4-foot by 4-foot area, according to Gonyeau.
