John O. Hitchcock Jeffersonville - John O. Hitchcock - age 74 born April 22, 1938 in Morrisville and was a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 5, 2013 He was a graduate of Cambridge High School class of 1956. John married the former Bonnie Sweet on April 9, 1966 in Cambridge, VT.
John was avid deer hunter, and always loved a good deer hunting story with friends, family, or anyone he could strike up a conversation with. John also shared a passion for bowling on Tuesday nights with the Hardwick Men's league. John was a former store owner alongside his wife; enjoyed being the local butcher. He then journeyed the woods working with many local loggers.
John leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years Bonnie (Sweet) Hitchcock, two twinkles in his eye a granddaughter Carly Hitchcock of Jeffersonville, a grandson Kasey Clark of Underhill, three children; a daughter Penny of Jeffersonville, a son Orson and his partner Sally Lumbra of Hyde Park, a daughter Pamela Clark and her husband Brian of Underhill, three extended grandchildren that he welcomed into his family, Trever Lumbra of Jeffersonville, Dustin Lumbra of Jeffersonville, and Nicole Clark of Williston. Jeffersonville, a sister Jean Locke of Waterville, a sister Jane Duval of Rochester, four brothers-in-law Naham Sweet and his wife Brenda of Virginia, Eric Sweet and his wife Aline of Fletcher, Dana Sweet of Cambridge, Robin Sweet and his wife Lynda of Fletcher, a sister in law Candace Morey and her husband William of Cambridge, several nieces, nephews, cousins and all his special friends that he has enjoyed countless hours with.
He was predeceased by both his parents John and Florence Hitchcock, a sister Kay Hitchcock, his in laws Ray and Esther Sweet, a brother-in-law and nephew Amie and Brent Duval, a brother-in-law Leonard Locke, and a nephew Shawn Sweet.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 11, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT. A funeral service will be held at the Second Congregational Church, Jeffersonville on Saturday January 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Mick Comstock and Reverend Elizabeth Griffin Co-officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery, Fletcher.
