Fairfax - Doris Ann (Hanlon) Millard, 94 passed away on Saturday June 13, 2015 at her home in Fairfax surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 14, 1920 in London, England daughter of the late William and Rose (Lisley) Hanlon.

Doris, known as Nana to her family, grew up in London and became a nurse during World War II. She met and married an American soldier, Samuel Dawson, and came to the United States at the conclusion of the war. She brought their young son, Keith Dawson, as well. She continued her nursing career after settling in New Jersey until she retired and travelled all over the country with her second husband, John Millard. Eventually, they moved to Vermont to be closer to her son and his family. Doris spent her days tending to many gardens, caring for her dogs and laughing at jokes with her friends and family.

Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Dawson, 3 grandchildren, Alyssa Dawson and her fiancé, Todd Whitney, Jason Derner and his fiancé, Allison Schlageter, Joshua Derner and his wife Barbara, as well as five great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her husband John and her son Keith.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday June 19, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel, 1176 Main St., Fairfax, VT 05454. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions in the memory of Doris may be made to Franklin County Home Health and Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478.
