P. Gregory Brown
(March 4, 1950 - August 27, 2007)

P. Gregory Brown, St. Albans, Bay, Vermont. March 4, 1950 – August 27, 2007. Greg Brown passed away Monday evening at Fletcher Allen Health Care. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Simonsen Brown (Jackie Brown) and his brother, Gary Brown, also of St. Albans. Greg is predeceased by a brother, Irving, and his parents, Pauline and Clarence Brown of St. Albans. Greg was a respected St. Albans businessman who ran Clarence Brown Fuel and Properties. The fuel company has operated from the same Federal Street location since it was founded by Clarence Brown in 1929. The business will be closed on Wednesday, August 29, to honor Greg’s memory and will resume normal operations on Thursday. A 1968 graduate of BFA in St. Albans, Gregory attended the University of Vermont. He served on the Board of Directors of Peoples Trust Company and is a member of the Elks Lodge, Franklin Lodge Number 4 of the F. & A.M., and the Owls Club of St. Albans. Greg was a man that always bestowed extraordinary kindness and empathy for others. Greg was strong, but Greg was gentle, in that special way that strong people can be. When help and a friend were needed Greg was always there. He was a truly wise and gentleperson in the very best sense who asked nothing for himself and who always gave freely to others. It is hard to imagine our St. Albans, Franklin County and Vermont community without Greg’s love, kindness and generosity. The heartfelt expressions of love communicated by so many of Greg’s friends eased his passing and it is hoped that they will join his family for the service and reception. A service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 12:00 (noon) at the Ohavi Zedek Synagogue at 188 North Prospect Street in Burlington followed by a reception in at the Collins Perley Sports Center in St. Albans. Funeral and reception arrangements are by the Boucher & Pritchard Funeral Home of Burlington (862-2851) and the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans, Vermont (524-3031). An honor guard of the St. Albans Town Fire Department stationed at the services. Active bearers are Gary, Brown, Abraham Brown, David Brown, Michael Averill, Richard Manahan Jr., Frank Cioffi, Alexa Cioffi, Michael Cioffi. Honorary Bearers are: The Employees of Clarence Brown, Inc., the Board of Directors of the People Trust Company, of Mary Casey, Susan “Sam” Matthews, Roslyn Brown, Clint Paquin, Les Ravlin, Nancy Hudak, Alex Hudak, Paul Schiffer, Dr. Charles Schiffer, and Richard Carr. Those wishing to remember Greg may do so by making a donation to the American Cancer Society. [/b]
