Obituary for Larry "Hank" Bevins
ST. ALBANS/FAIRFAX — Larry (Hank) Allen Bevins, 69, passed away late Thursday evening, March 17, 2016 at the University of VT Medical Center In Burlington, following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Larry was born in St. Albans on Oct. 3, 1946, the son of Irene (Bushey) Bevins and the late Ira Bevins.

He attended Bellows Free Academy of Fairfax. Larry enjoyed Nascar with Earnhardt Senior being his favorite driver of all time, going to the casino, playing weekly poker with his brothers and friends at his brother Ronnie’s residence. He also had a great love for bowling, bingo and sports cars with Novas (black) being his favorite kind of car.

Larry was formerly employed by Harrison Concrete, SD Ireland, and Ron Bevins Excavating (which was operated by his brother), and was most recently employed by Billy Sawyer Trucking.

Larry was married in 1968 to the former Judy Wagner of St. Albans, although divorced remained good friends. Larry is survived by his mother, Irene Bevins of Milton; two daughters whom he loved dearly: Sheri of Berlin and Laurie of St Albans; very special grandchildren: Bradley Bevins and Justin and Chauntel Cook of St. Albans; a great-granddaughter, Rileigh Cook of Grain Valley, Mo. Larry is survived by brothers Ronnie of Milton and David (Marlene) of St. Albans; sister Pauline (Dennis) Marshia of East Fairfield, Judy (William) Cheney of Swanton and Beverly (Maddie) Gingras of South Burlington; a sister-in-law, Gail Bevins; very special friends, Corey and Doug Laughlin and many wonderful lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Ira Bevins in 1972, his brother Bruce in 2014 and a younger sister Jill at the age of 4. He leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In honoring Larry’s wishes he will be a organ donor and cremated. There will be a memorial service for family and friends on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Healds funeral home on Main Street. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
