Robert James Herlihy, 59, of Fairfax passed away on Monday June 27, 2016 at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on May 24, 1957 the son of Valerie (Zapotocky) Cyr and the late Robert A. Herlihy. He had been employed as an engineering technician with IBM.

Robert was a vivacious man who loved his family and friends dearly. He was loved by many. Known for his quirky sense of humor and laugh that was infectious to those around him. He had a love of telling stories of his youth not once, but many times over. One of his favorite stories being of when he and a friend took a bus across the USA in one summer with no money AND a 30 day bus pass. He had a knack of cooking and not many people can recall a recipe he came up with that they didn't like. He loved making food for his family and could make an amazing bbq and always did. He had a great love of music and it was always "just one more song after this." What a long Strange trip its been....

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Leslee (Harton) Herlihy of Fairfax, their son Matthew Herlihy of Milton, and their three daughters, Lisha Parker and her husband Zack of Essex Junction, Barbie Herlihy of Burlington, Erin Archer and husband Richard Archer III of Wingdale, NY, his mother and step-father Valerie and Wayne Cyr of Monkton, 2 sisters Amy Cleary of Burlington, Jeannie Herlihy and wife Carol-Lynne Elliott of New York City, 11 grandchildren Christopher Dellorco, Jr., Tyler Delage, Taylor “Fred” Herlihy, Chelsea Foster, Emery Burns, Wyatt Bessette-Mauger, Peyton Herlihy, Christina Herlihy, Collin Herlihy, Richard Archer IV, Michael Archer, his mother-in- law Norma Harton of Essex Jct., several brothers-in- law, sisters-in- law, nieces, nephews, cousins and his four legged children “Maggie Mae”, Kyra Marcy” and “Emily Rose”.
He was also predeceased by his brother Christopher Michael Herlihy, and his grandparents, Jean and Paul Zapotocky, Margaret and James Swanston.
