MICHAEL JAMES ROONEY

HUDSON, Fla. - Michael James Rooney passed away at his home in Hudson, Fla. May 27, 2016 at the age of 68 after a long battle with cancer. His loving dedicated wife, Susan, daughters, Shanna and Erin, grandsons, Kaiden and Keagan and son- in-law, Gary were at his side. A favorite Irish tune 'Oh Danny Boy' was playing softly in the background. Born to the late James Bernard and Alberta King Rooney Jan. 17, 1948 in Jeffersonville. He graduated 1966 from Bellows Free Academy Fairfax, Vt. Entered the Army in April 1970 for a two-year term. He spent time in Alaska from 1974-1975 working on the Alaskan pipeline. In July of 1978 he married his soul
mate, Susan Potvin Rooney. They lived in Fairfax, Arizona and Florida, which has been their home for thirty plus years.

He loved horses, sports of all kinds, boating in the Gulf, riding his motorcycle and happy hour at which time his Irish heritage would appear being a bit of  Blarney! His sister, Connie Depot, and granddaughter, Kiana, predecease Mike. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Kelly Quick and her children, Myra and Jared, Shanna Rooney and her children, Kaiden and Keagan, Erin Rooney Slater and her husband, Gary; and two
sons; son, Jason Miranda and family; his brothers Patrick, George, Jim; Connie's children and sister Johanna Blake and all their families; aunt Julie Jewett, cousins and friends, and all Susan Rooney's family; the Potvins and their family.

A celebration of life with military honors is going to be held in Florida at the VFW on 9734 Dick St Hudson, FL 34669 on June 18 at 3 p.m.
