Hi All,

Stopped down at the Fairfax Town Garage yesterday to take a picture of the new truck - The Road Crew is busy doing some modifications that only they know how to make:

As temperatures reached the 60s, DJ Leach, Pat Pigeon & Don Pigeon stand near the new truck just received this week

Since high speed on many of our roads is prohibitive, the skirt seen on the top of the plow allows the trucks to go slower and still shoot the snow off the road

You no longer see the Town Trucks with the dump body raised when they are sanding - the body now tips sideways on all of the trucks as seen above

The little spinner wheel that spreads the salt/sand - Well that is no longer in the rear, it sits just behind the cab -
The crew had to make its own modifications by moving the spinner towards the cab and adjusting the chute

The chain seen above the yellow tag carries the sand and drops it in the chute, which then goes on the spinner then on the road

The skirt on top of the plow to shoot the snow off the road further - Well, thats just a little Yankee Ingenuity by the Road Crew.  A dry run to check the operation of the spinner and chute before the first snow storm revealed that it needed a Fairfax Town Road Crew Engineering change, so now with some adjustments and changes it works fine.

This morning we are getting rain, but according to the latest forecast, by this afternoon it will be turning to snow and our Road Crew is ready.  A radio was installed in the new truck yesterday and it is missing the Town of Fairfax decal on the door, but that should have no effect on its ability to do its job.

Before it even starts I want to thank the road crew for a great job. They always make sure our roads are in good shape, and come running out anytime the fire department needs them in the middle of the night, Holiday, weekend to sand a road so we can use it for a fire.

So to Donald, Dj and Pat Thanks from the Fairfax Fire Department and Me.

Joan (Fanton) Claussen, daughter of Liz Fanton sent me the following note regarding the Fairfax Town Road Crew:

Good morning Henry,

I don't know if I ever had a password or not so I didn't know how to acknowledge the Fairfax road crew.  When my mother was alive, they were so good to make sure the road was clear at all times.  Even after she died and I was cleaning out the house they still plowed as they did when she was alive.  Don was great!!
