Unseasonably warm to record high temperatures will cause significant snow melt across the area through early Thursday. Snow melt will cause excessive runoff after the ground becomes saturated. A cold front crossing the area on Wednesday will also bring widespread rain, With A Third of an inch to a half an inch of rain expected. Rapid rises on rivers and streams, As well as warm temperatures will increase the chances for the formation of ice jams. River levels may be sufficient enough to result in minor flooding even in areas unaffected by ice jams.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts, And those living in areas prone to flooding, Should Be Prepared to take action should flooding develop.

An ice jam could result in a rapid and dramatic rise in water levels in localized areas. Ice jams tend to develop along bends in a river or where there is an obstruction to the natural flow of water, Including Man-made structures such as bridges
