If the weather is right, you might want to visit some of our local sugar houses right here in Fairfax.  I have visited a number of sugar houses here in Fairfax which you can check out by clicking on the following link:


Garners Sugar House is no longer open and there are many more in town that I have not visited as yet:

Description: Come see our rustic wood-fired sugarhouse. 1/4 mile into sugarwoods. Bring your boots and your questions. Visitors always welcome. Maple products available all year at the farmhouse.

Directions: I-89 to Exit 19, go east on 104 a couple of miles to French Hill Road. Turn right and go up the hill 1.2 miles. Sugarhouse is on the right.

Description: Tom Hungerford, his wife Barb and their three sons Chris, Mark and Jim operate the 3,000 tap sugaring operation. Most of the taps are on pipeline with vacuum and processed through a modern reverse osmosis machine to a sweetness of 7-8%. A wood fired 3x10 arch processes sap the old fashioned way.

Description: We both grew up the children of sugarmakers, acquiring a natural enthusiasm and skill for producing the finest, pure Vermont maple syrup. Sample this year's crop from our traditional wood fired evaporator! You may want to take some home! Please call ahead.
