Channel 3 News reported last night that late this afternoon -- a collision between a car and a biker in Fairfax critically injured the rider. It happened on Route 104 near the Cambridge line. Police say the motorcycle rider was trying to pass a number of cars when it crashed into a car trying to make a left hand turn. No word tonight on the identity or condition of the biker.

Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash with car

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday after crashing into a car in Fairfax, according to State Police.

Police say Donald Shepard, 40, of Essex, was traveling at a high rate of speed while passing four vehicles on Vermont 104 when he hit the side of a car turning left.

Police say witnesses reported seeing Donald Gray, 20, use his directional light before turning into his driveway. Shepard drove into the back panel of Gray's Chevy Malibu and was thrown from his Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to police.

Shepard had sustained internal injuries, along with facial injuries and
broken legs and was transported to Fletcher Allen hospital.

According to police, Shepard was driving an unregistered motorcycle and driving under criminal suspension.

A police investigation continues.

My wife and daughter heard that accident from Goose pond rd.  Granted it's the other side of the valley, but they could easily make out the skidding tires and the impact from about 300 yds past river berry.  Sound travels i guess - sometimes farther than one might think.
