Read Mike Cains Blog this morning and he alerted me to the following facts: "Halloween is basically next week. Thanksgiving is next month and Christmas is about eight weeks away.  Summer's over already."  I thought, "Well, there's some good news."

Then I read the following headlines about the following two businesses headed for bankruptcy:

'Linens ’n Things throws in the towel'

"Circuit City Edges Even Closer to Doom"

Have also heard a lot of people saying that they will be cutting back on Christmas Giving this year, not because they want to, but out of necessity, so suspect a lot of other businesses will be hurting a little also.

The news the other night that hit closer to Fairfax was the news bulletin that The St. Albans Fire Department might be making some of their jobs part time instead of full time.

Have also heard the usual people griping about their jobs, however, my take is unless you have another one offered to you, you had best suck it up for now as jobs are not that plentiful out there.

People are also cutting back on going out for coffee??  If they are doing that, I suspect that going out to dinner will be cut back too, so probably a few more restaurants will be falling by the wayside.

One of the positives I did hear is that if you are in a position to buy a house, now is the time to buy.
