Very poor turnout again yesterday at The Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens Luncheon.  There were 22 people present, however, Marion had an outstanding meal as usual.  We had baked potatoes, dried beef gravy, green beans, corn bread, homemade rolls and coffee, with peach cobbler for desert.  The TV was on and we watched President Obama's Inauguration.

It was an interesting inauguration, as it is truly hard to tell who did and did not vote for Obama.  Everyone has that feeling of hope that things will get better.  Among the seniors there was talk of hope for themselves and their children.  One woman was telling about having to get penicillin for her husband that her medicare did not cover.  When she went to get it, the pharmacist said it would be $2.24 and when she went to give him the money, he said, "Oh no, $224.00."  She said the medicare would not cover it because it was a short term medication.

Rick Hogle of The Fairfax Pharmacy gave a bunch of candy to the Seniors.  Jim Young handed out tickets and there was a drawing for several boxes of chocolates.  With so few there, there were quite a high percentage of winners, although not high enough for me to get a lucky ticket.  I sat across from Charlotte McNall, who was a winner and she said as we were picking up to leave, "Here, take my box of chocolates, I have lots of them at home."  What a nice lady.

I had taken some photos at Christmas Time of them, so had some copies made and handed them out to the people there.  Usually try to take pictures at the Christmas Party as everyone looks so nice.  Everyone seemed to enjoy them and fortunately there was no one there I had missed.

One of our cooks, Alberta Clokey, has headed South for a few weeks, so we wish her a good warm vacation.

I hope that attendance does pick up at these luncheons, as I am not sure how long we can continue to have them if attendance doesn't pick up.
