Got a call from Charlie Tinker a couple of weeks ago, inviting me up to their Historical Society Meeting that they are holding tonight at 7 P.M. at the Binghamville Church.  For those of you that know Charlie, he is probably the most knowledgeable person I have ever spoken to about the history of Fairfax, Fletcher and the surrounding area.  He can off the top of his head give you information that you probably had never heard of.  He was very valuable to me when I was recording the genealogy for the Town of Fairfax.  Fairfax and Fletcher old time residents are very intermingled.

For those of you that might be interested in joining the Fletcher Historical Society, you can contact Charlie Tinker, or I am sure they will be more than happy to see you at their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Binghamville Church.

A while back I posted something about the Fletcher Glass Plate Collection - Don't know if Charlie or anybody up in Fletcher ever got the copies from UVM that Betsy Berardinelli talks about.  Quite a few of them were in the Fletcher Store when it burned.  To read what was posted earlier and the article in The St. Albans Messenger, click on the following link:

I was invited to attend, but I have to work. I am really sorry, and hope the meeting goes well.

Speaking of historical information.  I was snow-shoeing off Goose pond rd the other day - roughly 1.3 miles fromt the hydro dam bridge.  I was a section of woods owned by Bob Nolan, who's  a very responsible logger.  Anyway, i was up in the woods from where he's fenced the entrance to hsi property and foudn an old metal sign - about 2" x 3".  In read "McGinn Woods - keep out."  Was in surprisingly good shape.  i wonder if we know the extent of the McGinn property according to old records.
