The Champlain Valley Fair is looking for hundreds of people to help out during fair week.

This year's Fair runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 7 in Essex Junction. The annual event draws crowds in the thousands. Tonight, the Fair is holding a job fair. There are hundreds of paid and volunteer positions in all departments, including admissions and parking. All of the positions are for short-term work.

Would you like my recipe for Fried Dough?  Really simple, I make it with frozen bread dough.  I put the frozen bread dough in a plastic bag in my refrigerator over night.  The next day I put it in a bowl on the shelf and cover it a couple hours before I fry it.  I cut each loaf in about 8 pieces and stretch it our with my fingers so it is about 4 or 5 inches long by a couple inches wide.  I heat the vegetable oil up to about 350 to 375 degrees putting about 2 inches or more in the pan and drop the pieces in the hot oil.  as soon as they turn brown and puff up a bit, I turn them over and cook the other side using a big 2 prong fork I have.  I use the Hannaford Brand frozen dough as I like that one better.  A loaf of frozen dough only cost you about 50 cents and makes 8 pieces.

Give it a try Suzy.

Henry, that's a GREAT idea for a camping snack... We were trying to think of something else we could use the deep fryer for besides chicken.  Thanks!

We used to make fried dough at home when I was a kid. I used to do it for my kids too. Good with syrup, powdered sugar, chocolate sauce, or whatever you like!!
