Most days it appears when I go down by Morse Lumber here on The Fletcher Road, the place appears to be closed.  Doesn't seem to be any particular days, although there are some days that there are cars there.  Don't see any lumber piled outside anyplace either.  Anybody know if they are planning on moving back to Essex??

Henry,

I was speaking with one of the owners about 3 weeks ago.  I asked how business has been for them with the housing downturn.  They indicated that the business has had to lay off over half of their employees due to the lack of orders for flooring and custom trim.

Maybe this is your answer...

...I don't believe that that is the case, as far as I know they have half the staff working one week, half the staff working the next...so they reduced their employees hours by 50% but did not lay off 50% of the staff... that is how I understand it anyway...
