I feel very fortunate that I am able to get high speed Internet where I am.  My daughter is just about 50 feet east of me and to the best of my knowledge she is the last one on The Fletcher Road able to get it from Fairpoint due to the distance from the Telephone Switch in Main Hill in the village.

I can't actually remember how slow dial up was, but know I used to get very frustrated with people at that time that would forward these big e-mails to me and I would have to wait for hours for it to download or call the provider and ask them to delete it out of my mailbox so I could get the rest of my mail.

I am sure one of the things that people who buy houses here in town forget to check out and that is can they get high speed Internet.  It is truly a very important thing in today's world, at least to me.

In today's Burlington Free Press, they mention Fairpoint and Comcast, but I know we have several people in town on Surfglobal that get wireless high speed internet from them up in North Fairfax.  Some Westford people also have that.

Hopefully, for the people looking forward to high speed Internet, that will come sooner than later.

We outrank just Arkansas, Hawaii, Wyoming, Idaho and Alaska. Vermont slipped nine slots since last year's study, conducted by the Communications Workers of America. Vermont had the worst average download speed in New England, 3.3 megabits per second.
