David,

Excellent job!

Why us that "brain bucket" so clean?
Get IN there!

If you call it "reclaimed" you may get more money for it!

Always watch out for the guy with the clean bucket, he is 1 of 3 things

1. Boss , accident waiting to happen , probably doesn't know what is going on
2. New Guy , accident waiting to happen, probably doesn't know what is going on
3. Safety inspector, writes fines, slows work down to a crawl

I was in construction for abunch of years and the first thing I did with a new bucket was to rub it in the dirt to take the new guy look off.

Mike & Dean, thanks for the polite ribbing!  It is nice to feel the love.

I didn't even look at it when I put it on!  The TV crew told me that they would be on site in 45 minutes so I jumped in the car with my 4 year old daughter and boogied to Stowe.

I do get involved in the dirty work when I am needed.  This past spring I bid the demolition of a 95 ft tall concrete silo, a project that had never been attempted by our company.  It was my role to devise the demolition strategy and attach the 1/2 inch cable at the 60 ft mark.  Our equipment operator is not comfortable on ladders.

My role on the Stowe Job has been: estimator, public relations & to coordinate subcontractors.  I really like to be involved in each step of the process, but since I am a stay at home dad, four out of five days during the week, I am not able to be active in each step on a project of this size.  I concentrate on the things that I am the best at we delegate the rest to employees who skill better match the task.  I use two way radios, cell phone and e mail when necessary to coordinate the activities with other members of our team.

Glad that you all have enjoyed the video.

Dave,
MORE Ribbing, sorry.

I watched the silo demo.
You only got 1/2 of it. Was there a credit to the Owner?

Estimating a job is a gamble. YOu want the work, etc etc......
Been there, done that, and ate a few.

I am mostly a "field" guy. I work the jobs the estimators, bidders, get us. (thank goodness for them)
But in the field I look at the budget and just WONDER what the heck they were THINKING of at bid day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We do design builds too.... I have been banned from design builds at our company.
I input too much "site friendly" construction. Go figure.
