HAROLD W. CRAFTS

FAIRFAX - Harold Webster Crafts, 88, a lifelong resident of Fairfax, died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at the St. Albans Health Center.  He was born in Fairfax on Aug. 26, 1921, son of the late Harry and Ethel (Caswell) Crafts.  He had been a farmer in Fairfax most of his life. 

    Harold was a 65-year member of the Freemasons Lamoille Lodge 6.  He was also a member of the Grange in Fairfax for many years.  He had been an avid snowmobiler and the first Trail master in Fairfax.  He loved harness racing his ponies at the Northwestern Riding and Driving Club and won several trophies.  All of his life he was a devoted Red Sox fan. 

    He is survived by his nephews, Richard Renfrew and fiancé, Delia Snide, of Fairfax, Roger Haylette of New York, James Haylette of Virginia; a niece, Dianne Quebec and husband, David, of Fairfax. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Doris Renfrew, Sybil Haylette, Emma Goodwin; and nieces, Janice Manchester and Sheila Renfrew.

    The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Brownway Residence, St. Albans Health and Rehab and the Northwestern Medical Center for the loving care given to Harold.

    At Harold’s request there will be no visiting hours or services.  Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.

    Memorial contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to the Vermont Department of Libraries, Special Services Unit, 573 Paine Tpke N., Berlin, Vt. 05602.
